Copyright Application

  • Copyright claimant is not the sole author of the copyrighted work (e.g., copyright rights were assigned from the author to the copyright claimant).
  • Additional fees apply if more than 5 authors.
  • Includes electronic delivery of registration certificate
  • Limited to works which the Copyright Office accepts via upload / requires that you provide electronic copy

  • To qualify all (1) works must be unpublished and created by the same author or joint authors and (2) all of the authors must be named as copyright claimants. *This is a Copyright Office rule*

  • Limited to works which the Copyright Office accepts via upload / requires that you provide electronic copy

A physical copy of your registration certificate can be mailed to a US address for flat fee of $149.

Government Copyright Fees

The government fee for filing a copyright application varies based on the type of work and application used. Use the "View Fees" button to see the latest fees directly from the Copyright Office website. 

Government fees for most applications range from $45 - $85.

Complete Intake Form

First, you'll complete the Joshua IP intake form applicable to your matter. Each intake form is built on advanced conditional logic -- allowing me to ask more, less or different questions based upon your answers.

Schedule Zoom Call

Upon completing the intake form, you are redirected to my calendar where you will schedule a Zoom call to discuss your matter with me at a time that is convenient for you.

Step 2

Engagement Letter & Payment

Sign our engagement letter and make payment.

Step 3

Approve Application Details

I send you proposed filing details for your application for you to review and approve.

Step 4

Application is Filed

I file the copyright application and email you a copy of the application.

Step 6

Copyright Office Review

It typically takes 6-12 months for the Copyright Office to review an application. This review includes (among other things) a determination of whether the work contains sufficient original authorship to support a registration. 

Step 7

Registration

If your application is approved, a certificate of registration will be issued.
